County prepares to propose a millage

“I also see that the income from the road signs is down,” said Williams. “Could it be because we aren’t doing private signs any more?”

Road Department Hubert Hendrix agreed that might be a distinct possibility.

Chair Monty Merchant said that the purpose of adjusting the budget is to prepare the Board to set a fairly proposed millage rate during the next regularly scheduled meeting.

“We need to be ready to set the millage rate for next Tuesday night,” said Merchant. “It’s kind of the purpose of these meetings; to see if we can get everything lined up and balanced out.”

The next meeting is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30 at the Holmes County Board of County Commission chamber located behind the Holmes County Court House in Bonifay.
