City of Vernon announces fundraiser for Andrea Hope Wright

Council member Trey Hawkins encouraged him to continue to make efforts to create a thriving business and asked that he not loose patience as everyone is making adjustments due to the widening of State Road 79.

Discussion was also held on the future of the City of Vernon’s Recreational Department and after some time suggestions were made for a possible Recreational Director and Recreational Board be assembled, focusing on the upcoming baseball season.

Focus also went on the upcoming elections with Mayor Michelle Cook and Council members Trey Hawkins, Gwen March and Joey Brock’s seat positions in question.

These items will be discussed further and action could be taken during the next council meeting set for 7 p.m. on Jan. 28, with a special session arranged after for the Recreational Director and Board. A special session is also called for 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 to discuss applicants for the Vernon City Clerk’s position.
