Chipley man dies from fall injuries

DIXIE COUNTY — A Chipley man fell to his death on Jan. 25 while working on a water tower for the town of Horsehoe Beach, according to the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office in Cross City.

Jeffrey Warren Hagan, 29, was an employee for Shores Construction Inc. out of Marianna, and was painting a water tower when the accident occurred, according to a sheriff’s office report published by the Gainesville Television Network and

Shores Construction was a subcontractor that was hired to repaint the town’s water tower, according to the report. At approximately 10:06 a.m., Hagan was working at a height of approximately 100 feet when he fell from the tower.

Calls to Shores Construction and the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office were not returned on Thursday.

Dixie County Emergency Services and the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident. Hagan was being taken to an area hospital when he died in route, according to the report.

Hagan was a 2001 graduate of Chipley High School.

Jeffrey was born March 2, 1983, in Dothan, Ala., to Samuel W. and Linda Carol Tucker Hagan. He had been a lifelong resident of Chipley, a tank painter and member of Blue Lake Baptist Church in Chipley.
