Chipley man arrested on burglary, battery charges

CHIPLEY — Chipley Police arrested an 18-year-old Chipley man in connection with charges of burglary and lewd and lascivious battery, according to a news release.

Tristan Z. Thompson, 18, of Chipley was arrested on charges of burglaries of a residence located in Chipley and a lewd and lascivious battery, according to the report.

Between the dates of Nov. 14 and Nov, 20, the police received reports of two burglaries that had occurred at 521 Second Street.  An officer responded and began working the cases, identifying Thompson as a possible suspect, according to the report. A warrant was issuded for his arrest and officers were able to recover some of the property taken from these burglaries, according to police. 

In addition to the reports of burglaries, in which Thompson was identified as the suspect, officers also received a complaint on Thompson for a sex offense. Officers investigated the reported offense and on Nov. 27 Thompson was charged with a lewd and lascivious battery  on a minor. 

Thompson remains incarcerated at the Washington County Jail at this time.
