WASHINGTON COUNTY – Local agencies commemorated April as National Child Abuse Prevention month by placing pinwheels around Washington County as part of “Pinwheels for Prevention”, a nationalcampaign to engage individuals and communities in actions that prevent child abuse and neglect before it ever begins.

“The month of April is devoted to celebrating everything we can do to transform our community into a place that cares about – and actively supports – families and children,” said Tamara L. Hampton, Family Support Worker Supervisor for Healthy Families of North Florida.

“Many residents of Chipley may see the pinwheels around town during this time. The pinwheel was chosen to represent the hope and promise that every child deserves to be raised in a healthy, safe and nurturing environment.”
