CHIPLEY — A Campbellton man was arrested on drug charges on Feb. 26 following a traffic stop by Chipley Police officers, according to a Chipley Police Department news release.
Kelvis Tremayne Britt, 31, of Campbellton was arrested on the charges of possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana. Officers pulled over Britt’s Cheverolet Silverado after they observed it leaving a closed business during the late hours of the night, according to the release.
During the course of the traffic stop, police say they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A search was conducted of the pickup and cocaine was found in the vehicle near the area Britt had been sitting, according to police.
Due to the strong odor of marijuana, officers said they believed it had been present in the pickup at the time of the stop. Officers searched the immediate area surrounding the truck and located a bag containing marijuana.
Britt was taken to the Washington County Jail.
