The 2012 J. Harvey Etheridge Goodwill Ambassador award is named in honor of the famous radio personality and tireless ambassador for Holmes, County, J. Harvey Etheridge.

Mr. Etheridge was a friend of Holmes County and of the Times-Advertiser for many years, and in 1995 the J. Harvey Etheridge Goodwill Ambassador award was begun, with Mr. Kelly Swindle receiving the first honor.

Mr. Etheridge is well known for his saying “Give a Holmes Countian half a chance and he or she will do well.”

Mr. Etheridge loved to brag on good people and the goal of this award is to continue his legacy of spreading goodwill.

The award was presented at the Holmes County All Night Singing, but this year it was moved to the Kiwanis Banquet. This was the 17th J. Harvey Etheridge Good Will Ambassador Award to be presented.
