Bonifay man arrested on charges of fleeing, methamphetamines

MARIANNA — Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bonifay man on Sunday following a car chase, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a white Ford Mustang on Danford Bay Road on Jan. 5. The car did not display a tag and the driver tried to elude the officer, according to the release. The officer pursued the car into Holmes County, where the driver of the vehicle was apprehended on Register Lane off North Holmes Creek Road.

The driver of the car was Zachary Andrew, 25, of Bonifay, according to the release. He was placed under arrest and was turned over to Holmes County deputies.

A driver’s license check revealed that Andrew’s license were suspended or revoked. While searching the vehicle, deputies discovered Methamphetamine, according to the release.

A short time after Andrew was taken into custody, he escaped and is still at large.

Andrew was arrested on charges of felony fleeing and attempting to elude, escape, possession of Methamphetamine and driving while license suspended or revoked.
