BONIFAY — Traffic on Interstate 10 in Holmes County was blocked early Saturday morning when a Dallas driver fell asleep at the wheel, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Kalid Yuya, 32, of Dallas was westbound in his 2007 Volvo when, according to the report, he fell asleep and lost control of his vehicle early on Saturday, Jan. 11. Yuya’s Volvo drifted into the median, then Yuya over steered to the right and then to the left, causing the vehicle to enter the inside west bound lane and then return to the median. The vehicle rolled over onto its right side and came to a final resting position stretching across the median and blocking the inside westbound lane of I-10.
According to the report, the accident occurred at 5:45 a.m. 460 feet west of mile marker 98.
Yuya suffered minor injuries according to the report, while his passenger, Roble Abdulahe, 28, of Lilburn, Ga., was uninjured.
Yuya was charged with careless driving, according to the report.
