Davis found guilty of murder
State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the conviction, in Jackson County Circuit Court, of Harry Davis, on a charge of First Degree Murder.
A 12-member jury deliberated just two hours before finding that Davis, BM, DOB: 11-7-1982, Pensacola, murdered Peggy Williams, in her Marianna home, on August 4, 2007. During the four day trial, Assistant State Attorney Mark Sims presented testimony that Davis struck his victim with a microwave oven, a frying pan, and a liquid-filled bucket, in addition to stabbing her seven or eight times. Most stab wounds were in the head. The jury apparently rejected the defense than an unknown hitch hiker actually committed the murder.
The jury will return on Friday, October 10th, at 1 p.m., to consider whether to recommend death or life. In Florida, the trial judge imposes sentence but must give great weight to the recommendation of the jury. The jury will have two choices: death, or life without possibility of parole.
