Flooding update

Levels expected to continue falling, more rain on the way

Rivers still above flood stage
Major flooding is reported today in Bruce and Ebro, according to the National Weather Service. Minor flooding is reported at Caryville, Blountstown and Woodruff Dan above Chattahoochee. See the latest flood map.

The weather service notes that the Flood Warning continues in effect for residents along the Choctawatchee River, particularly those in Washington and Holmes counties.

At 9 p.m. Sunday, the river at Caryville was at 15.8 feet (flood stage is 12.0 feet). Forecasts are for the river to continue to fall slowly to a stage of 15.0 feet by Tuesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting some roads remain closed because of flooding in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Holmes counties.

Heavy rains last week pushed area creeks and rivers out of their banks in counties across the western Panhandle. Although no damage to homes has been reported because of the floodwaters, most boat ramps in Okaloosa and Santa Rosa the two counties are under water and inaccessible.

The next chance of rain in the area is Thursday, according to an update from the National Weather Service. A few showers may linger until Christmas morning (Friday)
