Chief: Chipley fire appears to be deliberate

A Saturday fire in Chipley appears to have been set deliberately, according to Chipley Fire Chief Floyd Aycock.

Chipley firefighters were on the scene at about noon at a log and brush fire just off Gilbert Road, and quickly brought the fire under control. "There were several residences very close by that could have been damaged," Aycock said.

Aycock said that based on information gathered at the scene the fire appears to have been set deliberately, and investigation continues into the cause.
