Evolution is not a proven theory
Karen M. Ammons-Calderon recently called into question the patriotism of Holmes County teachers and challenged the commitment of Christians to good science. Regardless of her prejudices, she should applaud teachers for standing up for what they believe is right and exercising freedom of speech guaranteed by inalienable rights given by our Creator.
She is mistaken that teachers wanted evolution removed and replaced with creationism. The teachers wanted numerous theories of origins taught so that students can weigh scientific fact against the theories. That is good science.
Additionally, she forgot the origins of public education. Most universities in our nation were founded by evangelical, protestant Christians. All founding fathers believed in creationism even though all were not Christians (some were Deists). This fact is undeniable and irrefutable.
It has been over 157 years since Charles Darwin authored The Origin of the Species. Many Americans have abandoned any other view of the origin of life except evolution.
However, prior to Darwin’s book the scientific, philosophic, and the theological communities were in consensus, believing that God created the heavens and the earth.
If a forum had been called of the greatest minds of Darwin’s time they would have universally condemned Darwin’s “theory,” not because of religious ideology alone, but because of the absence of scientific evidence for evolution.
The theory of evolution states that all the cosmos came from matter. Over billions of years, life began and evolved from simple organisms into complex organism. There is no evidence whatsoever that this has occurred. No link, no transitional species have been found.
Darwin admitted this. “Long before having arrived at this part of my work, a crowd of difficulties will have occurred to the reader. Some of them are so grave that to this day I can never reflect on them without being staggered.”
Darwin honestly admitted the lack of evidence for his theory in the fossil record, “the most obvious and gravest objection which can be urged against my theory.”
Scientists Eldredge and Gould admitted the lack of evidence. “The fossil record suggests to some of us that some of the specific ideas that Darwin and many of his successors right up to the present day, had on how life evolves, may be at least partially wrong.”
Darwin admitted, “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ exists which could not possibly have been formed by numerous successive slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.”
The absence of evidence led Professor George Gaylord Simpson to conclude that no evolutionary transitions (in the fossil record), means they do not exist.
What about DNA? Life, underneath an electron microscope, compelled Michael Behe, a microbiologist, to author his fascinating book Darwin’s Little Black Box.
Behe believes that Darwin’s theory of evolution is only true in Darwin’s paradigm. At the smallest level of life, like DNA produces like DNA. A monkey’s DNA can only replicate the monkey. Fish DNA can only replicate fish.
Behe concludes that it is impossible for evolution to be correct even at the minutest levels of life. This is what the Bible teaches in Genesis 1 - all life reproduces after its kind because of the design by our Creator.
Our society is on the verge of cataclysmic breakdown because of evolution. The destruction of the family, drug addiction, suicide, euthanasia, homosexuality, immorality, and the failure of the public education system can all be traced to the theory of evolution and abandonment of our Christian heritage.
Prior to the 1950’s the dominant view in our educational system was creationism. However, evolution assailed classrooms.
Generations of Americans believe they are the product of chance, descendants of monkeys. They are told they are free to be and do whatever they want.
Free sex, free thinking, free living with no consequences or responsibility. But this comes at the high cost of no purpose, no accountability, no law, no morality, only the survival of fittest. Evolution does not offer hope. It is evolution that has tried to trump science and Christianity much to our own stupidity. Because of evolution this nation no longer values human life and liberty.
The pursuit of happiness is a vague dream with the exception of biblical Christianity. The nation has abandoned God for a new god, evolution. But evolution is no god at all. It is a theory with no evidence for validation.
Only biblical Christianity offers real hope and answers that are rational, and verifiable. I applaud you teachers, press on!

sigh Your question screams ignorance. When a tadpole turns into a frog it's called metamorphosis. The whole premise of your statement explains perfectly why you would be a creationist. Get an education think deep thoughts get back to me. |

| I have to admit I am stunned at the ignorance of this article. Clearly the author has only the most shallow view of the subject. One biggie, it's the origin of species not the origin of life. Read the actual words on the page, not the ones in your head.
Examples abound real-time Flu virus evolves each year and we react that ain't a theory that is real. |

| I don't profess to be a christian, but i tend to believe that we were created by god and didn't evolve from an ape. If humans did evolve from an ape, please explain to me in scientific or any other terms why it's not still happening. I know it is a fact that a butterfly evolved from a worm and a frog evolved from a tadpole, but I have never seen an ape turn into a human. Please indulge me with your stupid theory on this, Mr. Page |

| If scientist were as half as smart as they think themselves to be, then, there would be no cancer, and a heart attack would be when my son's girl friend told him to hit the road, and fat people wouldn't be fat, and a flight to the moon would be like a walk in the park, and an abortion wouldn't be called abortion, it would be called murder, and there would be no such things as theories, only fact, and global warming would be recognized as just another sunny day, and the Washington County News would allow proper punctuation in its postings, and God would be worshipped as the creator that his is as it takes more faith to believe in theories than it does to believe in God! |

| Try reading some Sagan or Hawking instead of just one book.
Evolution has far, far, far more evidence than creation. All you have to do is dig.
You Christians can think and believe what you want, but don't start calling the book of Genesis science, because that is an irrational statement.
By the way, you can be good without God.
Have a great day! |

| I accidentally pressed No when I meant to press Yes. Evolution is not a proven theory so why do people grasp so tightly at it?
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
And God said, Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.
And God said, Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds, livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.
Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.
So God created man in his own image,in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. |

| Religion teaches you that you already know all the answers, that god done it, so let the educated people carry you into a more comfortable and knowledgeable future unfettered by superstition. Amen. |

| You can cling to your bronze age superstition all you like. You have your places of idol worship and groveling sycophancy just keep it to yourself and out of the realm of education. |

| Believing in something because you fear the consequences of not believing is ridiculous. Study Pascal's Wager as I'm sure you have no idea what it is. Then tell me why you don't believe in Apollo or Zeus. After all, you are an atheist also, you just believe in one more god than I. |

| Ever think about this? If you are wrong about what Christians believe. When you die and if you are wrong, man that is gonna be horrible for you. On the other hand if I as a Christian were wrong then I would lose nothing. Ever think of the difference? |

| This guy should at least educate himself before he spouts such obvious absurdity. The ignorance fairly drips from the page. Religion only lines the pockets of churches and stupefies their flock of sheep. Michael Behe has been so thoroughly debunked it's laughable. Keep your religion in your church and out of the schools and we'll keep the science that affords you all the comfort of an advanced society out of the churches. Remember the next time you turn on your computer or flip a light switch that it All came from science that you so flippantly and arrogantly argue against. |
