One killed in Jackson County wreck

A young Jackson County man was killed early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle wreck.

Florida Highway Patrol reported that Brett Lawrence Barbee, 19, of Sneads, was driving his 1999 Jeep eastbound on Reddoch Road at about 3:50 a.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Reddoch Road and Porter Avenue. He drove into the path with a 2003 Toyota pickup driven by Marvin Richard Mixon III of Grand Ridge that was headed north on Porter Avenue. Mixon’s vehicle collided with the side of the jeep and both vehicles overturned.

Barbee died at the scene and Mixon was in serious condition at Jackson Hospital. Barbee was not wearing a seatbelt according to FHP.
