Suspect in Chipley BP Robbery Caught
Crime Stoppers Tip Leads to Arrest in Armed Robbery Case
CHIPLEY – Recently arrested for the armed robbery of the BP Handimart on Main Street in Chipley on November 13, was 17-year-old Dustin Dickens of Esto.
The suspect entered the store at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, then produced a black handgun and demanded money from an employee. The suspect fled store with an undisclosed amount of money and left the area in what was described as a small silver SUV.
The Chipley Police Department in conjunction with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Bonifay Police Department and Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and with several calls to the TIPS line these agencies were able to identify and pursue the suspect.
Dickens if being charged with armed robbery and is currently being held at the Washington County Jail.
“Through the coordinated efforts of the citizens calling the TIPS Line, we have been able to work together to clear the armed robbery case,” said Police Chief Kevin Crews.
