| Dr. Cook has been following up every single parent complaint. If she keeps this up, nothing will change. She will learn she can't please the parents around here, nor should she try. She needs to do it like she wants to and the heck with everybody else. But that will assure she is only a one termer. |

| once again concerned parent, I see you feel the need to be rude. If your a band parent of someone in Vernon then I sure would like to know who you are, cause it sounds like to me you don't support them very much. It may be blowing a horn or throwing a ball to you, but to the students that really care about it, it is not. Some choose those areas as thier career. Cook may have won the election, but it doesn't mean I agree with all that she does. If that makes me crazy then so be it, if saying how I feel makes me crazy, so be it. You can call names and be immature all you want, just shows what kind of person you are.
As far as want ads, your funny. There may not be want ads, but many students go to college on a band scholarship or major in music in college, so I feel extra curricular activities are very important as well thier studies. You call me crazy, but I'm not the one that seems to not be supportive of my child in the band. You may say, yes I do, but if you did, you need to support the band in a whole, not say it's just blowing a horn.
We could go back and forth and keep arguing the points, but the fact is we don't agree and have different ways of thinking, so let's just agree to disagree instead of knife throwing. |

| Well what I do know is that most band parents are certified nuts. And yes I am a band parent. Your are complaining and you are crazy. Dr. Cook won the election and is putting education first in Washington County. You can act re tarded if you want, but the last time I checked there were no help wanted ads for band. Quit acting stu pid and get behind her decisions that are more in favor of education that blowing a horn or throwing a stupid ball. |

| If grades don't matter anymore, then I think Washington County schools need alot of help. Don't tell me to stop making excuses, I don't recall doing that. I was simply stating, it amazes me how people will take things the way they want to and then be rude about it. You have no idea what I do for my children or what I teach them at the house. 2 of my children are A students, not just because of the teachers, but what I teach them as well and by having them study. So don't downgrade me.
Teachers are there for a reason, they go to school for a reason, if it was all up to the parent, then why send them to school to learn you'd might as well homeschool?
It is a free country, if you seem to think I'm complaining, so be it. I feel I'm telling my opinion, not to be rude myself, but that is my right, so maybe anyone offended should stop complaining about that!
Anyway, please explain to me how in either of my statements was I making excuses? The one thing I will agree with you on is parents need to help, that is why I do, but it can't stop there, the school and teachers need to as well. |

| grades dont matter for sports or the band anymore. i promise you there are plenty of students who have grades below the minimum that play sports and perform in the band. everything is swept under the rug. parents need to teach their kids how to read and help out at the school. quit your complaining and quit making excuses for your precious snowflakes. |

| well concerned parent, you don't have to be rude. Like I said I'm not saying studies are not important, I'm saying the system was fine for years, generations, and we all turned out fine. There is already the rule that you have to keep your grades up to stay in band or sports, why should thier performance suffer because a half hour is taken away from practice. So just because I wrote my opinion on the matter, free country by the way,I don't see why you had to get snippy. Your Dr. Cook is not a saint you know. Do you even have a child in the band? If so you should know how Vernon band does not get anything anymore, you can't get better if you don't have the resources. They need to practice with what they have not be forced to study before hand. Like I said before the students who don't stay after school study either on their own or don't at all, why make the ones who do stay after do it. All students should understand that if they can't keep their grades up they can't participate, that should be enough. Before we know it the school will be running their lifes to and making them wear uniforms. This is public school not the military! |

| Dr. Cook wants to make sure that studies come before band. Get used to it or get out. |

| is this change for the good though? So far it doesn't look like it to me. Once again in Vernon the band is put on the back burning and shuffled around so the staff can have their Christmas social, guess that is more important. Then we hear about a mandatory study hall before practices. I'm all for studying, but why should the kids who want to participate in after school programs be made to do it? They have to, but the kids that just go home are on thier own? For years the students were fine doing band or sports without it, why now? Makes no sense specially since to participate in extra curricular activities are you not suppose to be passing all subjects or you can't play, is that not enough anymore? |
