Benefit scheduled for Clay Sellers

BONIFAY — Please help with efforts to raise money for Clay Sellers and his family. Clay, 37, is employed by the USPS as a city carrier in Bonifay. He is married to Sherry Sellers and has two children, Caleb, 8 years old and Carly 17 months old. Due to Clay’s medical condition he has been unable to work since early November. His wife is a part time USPS employee trying to support a family of four.

Clay began having fatigue and severe frequent headaches. He went to Doctors to seek treatment. Following a MRI they diagnosed Clay with a Dandy Walker cyst and Empty Sella Syndrome (characterized by an enlarged bony structure (sella turcica) that houses the pituitary gland at the base of the brain, the disorders sometimes results in high fluid pressure inside the skull).

Doctors believed that inserting a shunt would alleviate Clay of his symptoms but complications soon followed. The shunt became disconnected the day the he was to return to work. Clay underwent his second surgery to reconnect the shunt. After a week following his second surgery doctors discovered that Clay now had an infection that had developed inside the brain. This necessitated the removal of the internal shunt.

He currently has an external shunt and is being monitored for improvement so that he may undergo surgery yet again to replace the shunt internally. Doctors are unsure if and when Clay may return to work. The family has incurred extensive monthly expenses due to Clay’s medical condition.

A benefit is being held March 13 at the Holmes County Fairgrounds starting at 11 a.m.. They will be selling chicken and or fish plates for $5.00 Plates will consist of meat, two sides and dessert. Immediately following there will be a cake auction. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Clay Sellers and his family. Any donation that you could contribute would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Misty or Clint Erickson (850) 373-7475 for more details.

This benefit actually happened back in March. Do keep Clay and his family in your prayers.

Is the date correct. March 13th is a long time away. Maybe someone needs to check on this.

My prayers go out to this family. I will certainly be happy to purchase a dinner plate for me and my family. You can't ge lunch at Mickey D's for 5 dollars anymore.
