Man arrested after marijuana delivery

COTTONDALE — A Cottondale man was arrested Thursday after Jackson County authorities and state police said they watched a package of marijuana arrive at his home.

Marlos Kirkland, 26, of Lovewood Road in Cottondale, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and violation of probation.

Investigators who were monitoring the package said it was found to contain eight pounds of compressed marijuana. On a search of Kirkland’s home, investigators found more marijuana, a semi-automatic handgun, an SKS semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

They also reported finding plastic wrap and material for packaging illegal drugs.

The case is still under investigation and additional charges are possible.
