Northridge High School fell to Saraland in five sets in the quarterfinals of the Class 6A South Super Regional in the Multiplex at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl on Thursday. The Jaguars battled until the very end of the fifth set, losing 15-13. Saraland took the first set 25-9 and the third set 25-21. Northridge won the second and fourth set, both 25-16.
The Jaguars beat Stanhope Elmore 3-0 in the first round.
Hillcrest advanced to the quarterfinals, falling to St. Paul’s Episcopal in three sets, 25-18, 26-24, 25-17. The Patriots defeated Wetumpka in the first round, 25-18, 26-24, 25-17.
In Class 5A, Central advanced to the quarterfinals, falling to Faith Academy in three sets, 25-6, 25-15, 25-14. The Falcons (32-17) defeated Munford in the first round, 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-17, 25-20).
Bibb County lost to Sylacauga in the first round, 25-23, 25-14, 25-14.
In Class 3A, both Holt and Hale County lost in the first round. The Ironmen fell to Montgomery Academy in three sets, 25-2, 25-3, 25-6. The Wildcats lost to Prattville Christian,3-1 (25-10, 21-25, 25-13, 25-17).
Regional play begins on Friday for Classes 1A, 4A and 7A.
