Recreation registration: Terrebonne Parish Recreation basketball (ages 7-12) registration begins Oct. 15 at the Little Caillou Gym. Parents can register at the Little Caillou gym from 4:30-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday until Oct. 25. There is a $20 registration fee, and a birth certificate must be shown at registration. Chauvin Festival: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Oct. 27-28, American Legion Post 380 Chauvin, 4990 La. 56, Chauvin. Terrebonne Advocates for Possibility (T-Possibility) will hold the ninth annual Chauvin Fest, a celebration of bayou culture through homemade food, Grammy Award-winning music and local arts and crafts. The festival will feature games for kids, a silent auction and a Saturday jambalaya cookoff. Pat Crochet will read from her new book, Randolph Saves Christmas. Edith Nevis of the Houma Courier and Daily Comet presents "Rekindle Your Love for God" and her newest book, "Step out of your Box, 31-Days of Daily Encouragement," a collection of inspiring and uplifting messages. On Sunday, dress like a monster for trick-or-treating and a costume contest.

Diva Fishing Rodeo: Tradewinds of Cocodrie will hold the third annual Diva Fishing Rodeo in memory of Gloria Schouest Oct. 13-14. This is a ladies-only fishing rodeo. Anyone can purchase tickets to receive shirts. The sizes are guaranteed for tickets purchased by Sept. 10. All proceeds go to local breast cancer patients. First Friday devotion: St. Joseph Catholic Church will hold its first Friday devotion Friday beginning with Mass at 8:30 a.m., followed by a devotional service and quiet time before the blessed sacrament.

Chauvin Lions: The Chauvin Lions Club will hold a board meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 and a general meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the club home.

Cemetery upkeep: Parishioners who have loved ones buried in St. Elie Cemetery (Upper Little Caillou) or E. Picou Cemetery (the hill) are asked to make a kind donation for upkeep of the graveyard.
