VERNON - Although the advertised millage rate will show an increase, property owners in Vernon can look forward to no increase in its millage rate, according to city officials.
At an upcoming workshop to be held Monday at 5:30 p.m., Vernon City Council will discuss and adopt Resolution 18-148 adopting the tentative levying of ad valorem taxes at a millage rate of 4.82 mills, which is a 2.57-percent decrease of the roll-back rate of 4.70.
Officials noted the apparent millage increase is only for advertising, as by law when setting the TRIM schedule. However, the council will not seek to increase the millage rate when the resolution is adopted.
Resolution 18-148 will have its final vote at Vernon City Council regular meeting to be held 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at Vernon Town Hall, 2808 Yellow Jacket Road.
