CARYVILLE - Seats 1 and 4 on the Caryville Town Council are up for re-election November 6. Those seats are currently held by Bill Pate and Henry Chambers, respectively. Each seat will be a four-year term.

Qualifying will be held from August 27 – 30. Packets can be picked up from the Clerk at Caryville Town Hall any time between 8:30 a.m. and 5 Also, p.m.

A public hearing for ordinance 18-02 was held and subsequently approved. The ordinance pertains to term limits for council seats. Originally, terms were set at two years, however,  they have been changed to four-year terms to aid in council members seeing projects through to the end, officials said.

In other business, the council approved Chairman Millard French to sign an agreement with Southern Engineering Solutions. The water line replacement project is funded by the town’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant. French was also approved to sign an agreement with Northwest Florida Water Management District for a grant for the town’s water tower tank to be sanded and repainted.

Caryville Town Council will meet again in regular session at 6 p.m. on September 11.
