FORT WALTON BEACH — A 38-year-old woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance after being caught driving without a license.

A Fort Walton Beach police officer pulled a car over for not stopping at a stop sign. When he asked the woman for her driver’s license, she said she didn’t have one.

The officer checked her name through the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and it said her license was suspended in early June for refusing a breath test. She applied for her hardship license in mid-June, but hadn’t received one yet.

The woman was arrested for driving without a license with knowledge. Her car was searched, and on the top of the center console was a small black bag. Within the bag was a white sock holding a blue glass pipe and a small plastic box that tested positive for meth.
