WESTVILLE – A Navarre man was arrested for reckless driving after a two county chase on January 28.

Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was notified that Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) and Defuniak Springs Police Department (DSPD) were on Highway 90 traveling east attempting to stop a Mazda for erratic driving.

WCSO cancelled the chase before the county line but advised the vehicle was still travelling eastbound.

A HCSO deputy met the vehicle at Highway 90 and Skelton Street in Ponce de Leon and attempted to stop the vehicle that was driving on the wrong side of the road.

When the vehicle refused to stop another chase was initiated.

HCSO pursued the vehicle for approximately five miles before it came to a stop just before Westville.

The driver was identified as Christopher Harvey of Navarre. Harvey was taken into custody.

Harvey stated to the deputy that the reason he stopped was because he ran out of gas.

Harvey was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude as well as reckless driving. Harvey could also be facing charges out of Walton County.
