BONIFAY – First Federal Bank of Florida recently presented the Holmes County School Board (HCSB) with a $41,131.53 check.

The check was a return on the Community Rewards Program for the construction of the Bonifay K-8 School.

The Community Rewards Program is a way for First Federal to partner with the community to support local organizations.

As a unique partnership with HCSB, First Federal was able to contribute to the Bonifay K-8 school project for added funds to enhance the recently built school.

First Federal Bank of Florida Bonifay Branch Vice President Sandy Spear spoke of working with HCSB and the project.

"The Bonifay K-8 School is a great testament to progress in Holmes County and the value we place on education," said Spear. "We are proud of our partnership with the Holmes District School Board and being able to be a part of the Bonifay K-8 School Project. We know that this investment in our youth is one of the greatest investments we can make in our community."

First Federal Bank Financial Services Manager Wesley Whitaker echoed those sentiments.

"We are very pleased to partner with the school board and be able to see the long term benefits to Holmes County youth for many years to come," said Whitaker.

HCSB intends to use the funds to for shade sails to cover the two playgrounds at the schools, as well as a bottle fill up stations at some of the water fountains inside the school. A pole barn is also expected to be put up between the fifth grade building and the gym to serve as a cover for car riders in inclement weather during pick up.

Any left over funds will be put toward enhanced security features or a concrete slab under the pole barn.

Superintendent Terry Mears expressed his gratitude to First Federal for collaborating on the project.

"We are thankful to our community partner First Federal Bank of Florida for allowing us to collaborate with them resulting in their contributions to the educational success of our students," said Mears.
