CHIPLEY - The life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be honored in a three-day celebration that kicks off this weekend.
The MLK banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Washington County Agricultural Center. Speaker will be Washington County School Board member and veteran educator Dr. Lou Cleveland.
The celebration will continue at the Ag Center at 3 p.m. Sunday with the MLK Gospel Extravaganza. Special guest will be Archbishop Carl McComb of Daleville Christian Fellowship Worship Center.
The MLK Parade is set to take place Downtown Chipley at 10 a.m., Monday, January 15, followed at 11:30 a.m. by the MLK Commemorative Service at the Ag Center. In addition to vendors and activities, the service will feature the following guest speakers: 11:30 a.m. - Senator Tonya Anderson; 1 p.m. - Shannon Lee and 2 p.m. - Shaneekqua McCutcheon Brown.
