WALTON COUNTY – Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrested a Walton County woman after she tried to pass counterfeit bills in two Holmes County businesses.

A HCSO deputy responded to a call at Wayne’s Grocery in Ponce de Leon on December 16, referencing a female who had attempted to pass a counterfeit $50 bill.

The deputy obtained a description of the female suspect and the vehicle she was driving.

The suspect vehicle was located at a residence on C.J. Laird Road. Deputies contacted a female fitting the description and identified the suspect as Amber Anderson.

In a separate incident a few days earlier at M and M Grocery in Leonia, a female matching Anderson’s description attempted to pass counterfeit bills there as well.

A photograph of the suspect obtained through surveillance video confirmed Anderson’s identity.

Arrest warrants were obtained on Anderson who was subsequently arrested and charged with uttering a forged instrument.
