HOLMES COUNTY - Two Alabama men are charged with drug trafficking following a traffic stop Wednesday at the intersection of Highways 2 and 173.

According to reports, in investigators with the Holmes County Sheriff's Office stopped a red Cadillac for a traffic related offense.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Robert Daniels of Hartford, Alabama, opened the car door and threw a case containing a large amount of methamphetamine (ICE), large amount of Xanax, and a small amount of marijuana out onto the ground as the investigator was approaching.

The passenger of the vehicle, was identified as Jamie Newberry of Dothan, Alabama. A search of Newberry's person revealed a large amount of methamphetamine (ICE).

Both Daniels and Newberry were arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

Daniels faces additional charges of trafficking in Alprazolam, Possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
