CARYVILLE - Caryville residents will soon enjoy improvements to the town's water system, thanks to a $600,000 Community Devolvement Block Grant (CDBG).
The grant application was denied in the previous grant cycle but made the cut after Town Council members reapplied in the new cycle, asserting the improvement are imperative for Caryville's aging potable water system, as well as for the wellbeing of its residents.
The grant will help fund water tank and well treatment and improvements, including the installation of a sodium hypochlorite chlorination system and associated piping.
Other improvements will include water line replacement projects in areas which experience frequent pipe breaks and water outages, such as along Palmer Drive, Wrights Creek Road, Old Bonifay Road, Lake Circle Way, and Lake Circle Drive.
The projects call for the replacement of more than 10,000 linear feet of water lines.
