CHIPLEY -- At a special meeting Tuesday, School Board officials voted-in new chairmen and set board members salaries.

In a unanimous vote Tuesday, Washington County School District School Board elected board members Susan Roberts, former vice chair, as chairperson and Lou Cleveland as vice chair. The board also selected Matt Fuqua of Fuqua, Milton and Carter, Professional Association, out of Marianna, as School Board attorney at a retainer fee of $750 per month for School Board meetings.

Previous School Board Chairman Vann Brock made a motion to approve board member salaries at $27,302 annually -- an increase of $1,075 in the current year -- as recommended by the Florida School Board association. The motion was approved unanimously.

Brock also nominated board members Terry Ellis and Milton Brown as School Board legislative liaison and alternate, respectively, as well as Roberts for Small School District Council Consortium Board of Directors liaison. Both motions passed unanimously.

The board set next year's meetings schedule to reflect School Board meetings to be held the second Monday of the each month at 5 p.m.

In other business, the board approved its five-year facility work plan, which Superintendent Joseph Taylor said contained the same identified facilities project from the previous plan.

The School Board meets regularly on the second Monday of the month at 5 p.m. in the board room at the district's headquarters, located at 652 N. Third St.
