NEW HOPE – An Alabama man is in jail for multiple drug charges after being stopped for a traffic infraction.

A Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a red truck on Highway 2 in the New Hope community on October 4.

The driver of the truck was identified as Kevin Wike of Geneva, Alabama.

The K-9 officer Lasso was put to work and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. Lasso gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found a snuff can containing several grams of methamphetamine and marijuana.

A search of Wike’s person revealed a black pouch containing more methamphetamine.

Wike was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
