CHIPLEY - Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday approved of a budget that lowers property taxes and includes an anticipated $12.75 million in revenues and expenditures.
The commission approved of a general fund property millage rate of 9.2235 mills, down from last year’s millage rate of 9.2530. As a result, most property owners will see a slight decrease in property taxes.
The Municipal Service Benefit Unit (MSBU) budget was set at $615,000.
As is usual, the county anticipates ad valorem taxes to generate the most revenue and law enforcement services to be the largest expenditure. $7,639,235 in revenue is expected from ad valorem, and $2,478,923 is expected to be invested in law enforcement.
