CHIPLEY -- At Thursday's meeting, Chipley City Council adopted a tentative millage rate and FY 2017-18 budget.

Council members unanimously approved Resolution No. 17-18 and 17-19 at Thursday's public hearing, held at City Hall.

The former resolution tentatively sets the FY 2017-18 millage at 7.000 mills, which is less than the rolled-back rate of 7.0774 mills by 1.09 percent, and no different from last year's rate.

A mill is equal to $1 for every $1,000 of taxable property value.

Resolution 17-19 tentatively adopts the FY 2017-18 budget of $14,539, 833.

The budget includes $106,000 for salary adjustments for City employees and $707,000 for road improvements.

A public hearing for the final millage and budget adoption will be held 5:05 Thursday at City Hall, located at 1442 Jackson Ave.
