ESTO - A Crawfordville man was arrested Friday following a traffic stop by a Holmes County narcotics investigator.

HCSO reports the investigator stopped a blue Ford Ranger at the Express Lane in Esto. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Michael Curry of Hartford, Alabama, and the passenger was identified as Billy Steele of Crawfordville.

According to reports, Steele "was attempting to conceal something" while the investigator was talking with him.

Curry, the owner of the vehicle, gave consent to search the truck. As Steele was exiting the vehicle, he dropped a pill bottle wrapped in black tape. The bottle contained methamphetamine, and a glass smoking pipe was located between the passenger seat and the console.

Steele, who is currently on state probation for sale of controlled substance, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
