HOLMES COUNTY - Two men are facing drug related charges following a traffic stop Monday in the Leonia Community of Holmes County.

A deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff's Office stopped a red Ford Focus on Highway 181 and discovered through a license check that the driver, identified as Trevor Shortt of Freeport, had an active Bay County warrant.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Montana Lipford of Defuniak Springs, gave consent for the deputy to search his person. During the search, the deputy found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine in Lipford's pocket, as well as associated drug paraphernalia.

A further search of the car revealed a Crown Royal bag under the driver seat that contained a set of electronic scales, as well as a plastic bag containing methamphetamine.

A third passenger was released after Shortt claimed ownership of everything located in the vehicle. Both Shortt and Lipford were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Shortt faces the additional outstanding warrants charge out of Bay County for Violation of Probation.
