WASHINGTON COUNTY – A traffic stop for faulty equipment left a Westville man in custody for methamphetamine.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputy observed a truck driving on Wrights Creek Road with faulty equipment and performed a traffic stop on August 19.
Upon approaching the driver the deputy immediately noticed behaviors and movements indicative of a person being under the influence of stimulants.
The deputy then patted down the occupants of the vehicle to ensure they possessed no weapons. During this time the passenger, Austin Knight, 20, of Westville, attempted to grab an object from his pants pocket.
The deputy located a cigarette pack that contained a plastic baggie with a crystal like substance inside. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine.
A glass pipe and a straw with methamphetamine residue was also found in Knight’s possession.
Knight was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
