BONIFAY – An interlocal agreement between the county and its five municipalities was tabled when the Bonifay City Council met in regular session August 14.

Last month, it was agreed that the county would give up one percent and the city of Bonifay a half a percent of Local Option Gas Tax (LOGT) funds and disperse the one and a half percent to Ponce de Leon.

The county sent out interlocal agreements to each municipality to sign before giving final approval to the agreement. All the municipalities have signed the agreement save Bonifay.

The agreement is expected to be brought up again during the council’s next regular session meeting later this month.

A final reading of the floodplain management ordinance was completed with the council giving its final approval.

The ordinance covers adopting flood hazard maps, designating a floodplain administrator and procedures and criteria for development in flood hazard areas.

The first step in the approval of annexation for a parcel of land on Sun Lake was taken with the council voting unanimously in favor. The next steps in the process include advertising and public hearings for ordinances before the parcel is fully annexed into the city.

An invoice from JMCM Consulting for $13,152 was approved to be paid. The cost covers consulting fees for the matching grant the fire department received for the new fire truck purchase.

Bonifay City Council will meet again in regular session at 6 p.m. on August 28.
