VERNON – A Chipley woman is in jail for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on August 2.

A Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a 2010 Chevrolet on Millers Ferry Road in Vernon for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified at Anna Neal, 52, of Chipley.

Neal consented to a search of the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of marijuana, two metal crack pipes, and hydrocodone that Neal admitted she did not have a prescription for.

The search also found a container with white residue that Neal stated was crack cocaine residue.

Washington County Sheriff Kevin Crews stated that deputies would be patrolling the entire county to keep its residents safe.

“Our deputies are trained to work and cover all areas of Washington County, not just the main thoroughfares such as State Road 77 and State Road 79,” said Crews. “Deputies will be patrolling entire county, including rural areas, dirt roads, and back roads. Let me assure those that are breaking the law that there is no place to hide. It is our duty to make sure these areas are safe as well.”

Washington County Sheriff Kevin Crews urges anyone with knowledge of crimes being committed to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 850-638-6111. Tips may also be reported anonymously by calling 850-638-TIPS (8477) or by emailing tips@wcso.us.
