BONIFAY – The Holmes County Board of Commissioners held a called meeting Monday to discuss an extension requested by the county to FEMA for road projects.
Holmes County FEMA Coordinator Joey Marsh advised commissioners the extension was approved for one year with the county having the option to file for another extension should it be needed.
The deadline extension prevents $21.29 million in FEMA grant funds being lost to the county and enables all roads listed on the project worksheet adequate time to be completed.
Marsh says he feels confident about getting the work done.
“We are ahead of schedule currently," Marsh said. "I believe if we continue with how we have been going, we will be able to start paving by the end of the extension."
Holmes County Board of County Commissioners will meet again in workshop at 9 a.m. on August 8.
