The southeast Alabama and Northwest Florida based Alabama Fury 04 fast pitch softball team won the USFA 12U C Class World Series Saturday, July 22 in Panama City Beach. There were 191 teams competing in the World Series from around the country and 51 teams in the 12U C Class bracket in the tournament which started Monday, July 17 and culminated with the championship Saturday, July 22. Alabama Fury 04 defeated Sugarland Imperials from Texas 4-0, Central Kentucky Batcats 11-2, Oklahoma Vipers 5-2, Crush 04 from Georgia 6-3, and STX Express Texas 5-4 to secure a spot in the Diamond Bracket. Facing the only other undefeated team remaining in the tournament, Alabama Fury 04 dropped a hard fought game to ETX Rampage from Texas 5-2, which put them in the loser’s bracket. In the loser’s bracket, the girls managed a come from behind, last inning victory against STX Express from Texas 7-6 and again against ETX Rampage from Texas 3-2 to force the “If Necessary” game against ETX Rampage from Texas. In the final game, Alabama Fury 04 beat ETX Rampage from Texas 3-0 to win the World Series. Coaches for the Alabama Fury are Lee Moss, Ron Danford, Heath Nall, and Mike Thornton.
