HOLMES COUNTY – A man hunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended July 29 with one suspect in custody.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a blue Ford Explorer for a stolen license plate when the vehicle turned into a driveway and quickly pulled behind a house.

The driver was seen running from the vehicle into a wooded area. FHP called multiple agencies for assistance in making a perimeter in attempt to apprehend the subject identified as Eric Rucker, of Bonifay.

K-9 teams from Jackson C.I. and Apalachee C.I. were called to the scene and began to actively track Rucker.

Rucker was apprehended by a Holmes County Sheriff’s deputy walking down County Road 4 just east of Whitaker Church, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Rucker is charged with resisting arrest without violence, active Holmes County warrants for elderly abuse, and driving while license suspended or revoked with more charges possibly to follow.

Florida Highway Patrol expressed appreciation for the assistance of the Graceville Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Bonifay Police Department, Jackson C.I. and Apalachee C.I, and the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
