WAUSAU - The 48th annual Wausau Possum Festival and Fun Day is quickly approaching, but first, the town will crown royalty to preside over the popular summertime event.

The Wausau Little King and Little Queen Country Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Possum Palace. The pageant is open to ages 0-18 with all proceeds benefiting the Wausau Fire Department. The July 7 $35 entry fee deadline has passed, but late entries will be accepted for an additional $10 with no entries accepted the night of rehearsal. The rehearsal will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 27.

Dress requirements are western wear for boys ages 0-12 and country-style/denim & plaid for girls ages 0-18 (no shorts).

Each division will have a winner and one overall winner. Winners will receive a crown, trophy, and banner and will be requested to ride in the Fun Day Parade August 5. New this year is the photogenic division at an additional entry fee of $10.
