WASHINGTON COUNTY - Chipley and Vernon are gearing up to host the cities' respective annual patriotic celebrations.

The City of Chipley is presenting a free community fireworks display at 9 p.m. Monday, July 3, in Pal's Park.

The City of Vernon is kicking off Firecracker Day at 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 4 with the Fourth of July Parade. Parade lineup will begin at 3:30 p.m. behind the old high school, located on Dawkins St.

Festivities will then move to the Sportsplex, where concessions, vendors, and children's activities will be in full swing. Headlining entertainer Christon Birge will play at 7 p.m., with the fireworks display beginning around 9 p.m.

There are no fees for vendors; however, anyone interested in becoming a vendor can still call Vernon City Hall at 850-535-2444 to inquire about space.
