Bonifay's Southern Gospel Sing will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday July 1, returning to Memorial Field.
Now in its 66th year, the sing has been held at the Holmes County High School Gymnasium in recent years, but organizers state the iconic event is returning to its traditional site - and its roots as "The Biggest All-Night Singing in the World."
Dating back to the early 50’s with promoter J.G. Whitfield, the Southern Gospel Sing has a long of history of success and popularity over the decades years. During its most popular run in the 1970’s and 80’s, the sing would draw as many as 14,000 to 15,000 fans. The sing has experienced many changes over the years, but there are many things the community says have remained constant: the music, the message, and deep history.
Adult tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate the day of the sing. Tickets for children ages 3-12 are available only at the gate and are $5.
Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, but bleacher seating will also be available. Gates will open at 8 a.m. for seat placement. Concessions will be sold, but small coolers are also welcome.
