WASHINGTON COUNTY - An elderly Texas resident was killed Monday as the result of a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 10.
Florida Highway patrol reports Edith Mary Sconza, 80, of Wimberly, Texas, was traveling westbound around 11:45 Monday morning when her 2013 Hyundai Elantra began to travel in a southwestern direction off the paved portion of the interstate.
The vehicle began to rotate in a counter clockwise direction, resulting in its right front colliding with a tree before continuing to travel in a southwestern direction and colliding with another tree, this time with the vehicle's right rear.
The vehicle came to final rest in the edge of the wood line in the center median, facing south.
Sconza, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama but succumbed to her injuries.
