BONIFAY – At approximately 6 p.m. on June 13, officers from Bonifay Police Department(BPD)responded to a local business after receiving a call about a reported sighting of one of the escaped inmates from Georgia.
Video surveillance from the business was deemed inconclusive because the alleged suspect was wearing a baseball cap.
Witness testimony and description of a tattoo led to a Be On Look Out (BOLO) being issued in the surrounding locations.
Minutes later the suspects vehicle was spotted turning onto West Brock Avenue. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop and the female driver was restrained without incident. The passenger was no longer in the vehicle.
BPD K-9 “CZAR” alerted to the scent of contraband in the vehicle. After searching the vehicle, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were found.
The female driver was identified at Heather Finch-Adkins, 27, of Chipley.
Adkins was placed under arrest and booked into the Holmes County Jail.
A determination was made that the passenger is a local man with tattoos similar to the Georgia escapee.
If anyone has information concerning this or any other criminal activity, call Crime Stoppers of Holmes County at 1-866-689-8477 (TIPS) or the Bonifay Police Department at 850-547-3661.
