2013 Holmes County High School graduate Ethan Merchant recently had the opportunity to intern with Liberty Partners of Tallahassee during the 2017 legislative session.
Merchant, a Political Science major at Florida State University in Tallahassee, will begin his senior year this fall.
He is the son of Monty and Lisa Merchant of Ponce de Leon and the grandson of Juanita Stanley and the late Thomas Stanley and Jone Merchant and the late Ralph Merchant.
Merchant's parents report he has had a keen interest in politics and the legislative process since he was about 10 years old when his dad ran for and served as Holmes County Commissioner. In middle school, he had the opportunity to serve as a Page in the House of Representatives for Rep. Greg Evers.
Over the past few years, Ethan has volunteered and worked on campaigns at the local, state, and federal level.
Originally founded by former U.S. Senator Connie Mack and firm President Jennifer J. Green, Liberty Partners of Tallahassee, LLC is a boutique firm which specializes in the development and implementation of successful strategies for corporate, non-profit and trade association clients. The firm is comprised of President Jennifer Green, Vice-President Melanie Bostick, and Director of Government Relations Tim Parson, who is a Holmes County native and a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School.
As an intern for Liberty Partners, Ethan’s responsibilities included attending committee meetings and House and Senate sessions to track specific bills for clients and then reporting back to the firm to keep them updated. Ethan is set to graduate from Florida State in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and minor in Economics. His plans after graduation are to pursue a career in the political arena.
