WASHINGTON COUNTY — A Chipley woman was arrested June 5 when a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a speeding vehicle traveling south on State Road 77 near Knotch Pond Lane.
During the stop, it was learned the passenger in the vehicle initially provided a false name to the deputy. The woman’s identity was later confirmed as 40-year-old Margrett McLaughlin. McLaughlin had an outstanding warrant in Washington County for violation of probation.
McLaughlin was transported to Washington County Jail for booking. Upon arrival, McLaughlin repeatedly denied possession of any items that would be considered contraband in the jail. A search of McLaughlin by a corrections corporal revealed McLaughlin was in possession of a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, a baggie containing methamphetamine and a glass pipe.
McLaughlin was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of introduction of contraband into a detention facility. She is currently being held without bond.
