NOMA – On June 8, a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy attempted to stop a four- wheeler that was traveling on the highway in Noma.

When attempting to pull the ATV over the driver of the four wheeler failed to stop and proceeded to accelerate which initiated a pursuit.

A quarter of a mile pursuit occurred when the driver of the four-wheeler failed to negotiate a turn at Baxley Road and Kelly Street. The driver and passenger fled the scene. The passenger was located quickly and identified the driver as Maxwell Gibbon, a white male from Noma. Gibbon is currently on state probation for drug offenses.

Holmes and Walton Correctional K-9 Units responded and tracked Gibbons for several miles and were able to take him into custody. The passenger was released to their parents while Gibbon was transported to the Holmes County Jail.

Gibbon is being charged with driving while license suspended , fleeing and attempt to elude and reckless driving.
