CHIPLEY - It took the Chipley Police Department less than a day to identify and arrest two Chipley teens in connection to a burglary that took place at a Fifth Street residence.

Chipley Police officers responded to 632 Fifth Street Friday, April 21, after the resident discovered someone had entered the home on a previous date and removed items valued at more than $300.

Investigators were advised of possible video evidence showing juveniles carrying the missing items from the residence, evidence that would enable investigators to determine the identity of the suspects and recover the items stolen from during burglary that same day.

Identified and charged with felony charges of grand theft and burglary of a structure were Steven Carlyle, Jr., 16, and Keyshaun Everett, 14, both of Chipley.

Chipley Police Chief Scott Thompson says he is pleased with how quickly the crime was solved.

"I am appreciative of the cooperation and quick thinking of persons who assisted in this investigation," he said. "Community involvement greatly assists our efforts in the quick resolution of these cases. The protection of our citizens and their property is as always our top priority. I encourage anyone with information about any criminal activity to contact the Chipley Police Department at (850) 638-6310 or Crime Stoppers of Washington County at (850) 638-TIPS."
